Beechupally Anjaneya Swamy Temple is a famous Lord Hanuman Temple present on the banks of sacred Krishna River.

This 200 years old Hanuman temple is present in Beechupall village of Itikyal Mandal, Mahbubnagar district of Telangana State.

The temple is present on National Highway 44, just a stone throw away on the Kurnool-Hyderabad highway.


During 2016 Krishna Pushkaralu, Telangana Government has constructed many Ghats with greater facilities at Beechupally temple for the pilgrims.

The native language spoken at Beechupally is Telugu.

Pilgrims take a holy dip at the sacred Krishna river before going for the Darshan of Lord Hanuman.


The descendants of the Gadwal rulers are offering support for this temple.

Even today, the Royal family members of Gadwal are taking part in the religious chariot festival taking place in this temple every year. They are following the same tradition which was once started by the Gadwal Kings.

Beechupally Anjaneya Swamy is famous for his astonishing miracles and pilgrims walk around the temple (Pradikshina) to get rid of their diseases and illness.

Devotees tonsure their hair at this temple. Many villages consider Beechupally Anjaneya Swamy as their family God.

In earlier days, only Valmiki community hunter people served as priests for this temple.

Later, Gadwal Kings allowed the Madhwa Brahmins to perform puja in this temple. Now, both these communities are performing the puja of Lord Anjaneya Swamy at Beechupally temple.

Beechupally Hanuman Temple History:


According to the inscriptions found on the temple wall, the Lord Hanuman idol at Beechupally was installed by Vyasaraya or Vyasa Raya.


He is the guardian saint of Vijayanagara Kingdom and the guru of Sri Krishnadevaraya of Tuluva dynasty.

The main temple faces South direction while the idol of Anjaneya Swamy faces East direction.

Beechupally Hanuman Temple

There is a Shiva Linga Temple and Lord Rama Temple in the temple premises.

Lord Rama temple was constructed in the year 1992. The Krishna river water touches the Shiva Linga Temple during the rainy season.

Gurram Gadda and Nizam Konda are two islands close to the temple. Gurram Gadda is now a fertile village.

Nizam Konda is a small island present in the backwaters of Krishna River on the east side of Beechupally temple belongs to Nizam Nawabs.

A broken down hill fort constructed with stone and mud constructed in 1742 AD is present on a small river island.

This fort once served as a military base during the Qutub Shahi era and Asaf Jahi dynasty rule.

This ruined fort of medieval period can be reached only by boat during Rainy season.

Telangana Archaeology and Museums department is planning to make it as a tourist spot.

There is a Lord Hanuman temple and few small structures present on the top of the fort and only local people are visiting this place as of now.

The main festival celebrated at this temple is Hanuman Jayanti (to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman) in the month of April.

Many devotees visit this temple on Tuesdays and Sundays. More visitors are expected and also during holidays and festival periods.
