Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple in Durgamitta is a famous temple dedicated to Goddess Mother Sri Rajarajeswari.
This famous temple is located in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh state.
There was an interesting story behind the construction of this temple.
In the year 1965, Arul Jyothi Nagaraja Murthy, who is Sri Rajarajeswari Peetadhipathi located in Arcot district of Tamil Nadu state was going to Vijayawada.
He took rest at Durgamitta and felt the presence of Goddess Rajarajeswari in the opposite open land and asked his local Nellore disciples to construct a temple in that open land.
Sri Ratnaswamy Mudaliar is the founder of Sri Rajarajeswari temple who has taken permission from the District Collector to construct the present temple.
Later, other small temples were constructed for Lord Subrahmanyeswara Swamy, Lord Sri Sundareswara Swamy, Goddess Gayathri, Lord Vinayaka and Navagraha's in the temple premises. In the year 1985, the temple was taken over by the Endowment department.
Devi Navaratri (Dussehra) is a famous festival, which devotees celebrate here and offers prayers.
Nellore Rajarajeswari Temple is famous for Rahu Kala pooja on Friday. Especially, lady devotees worship Goddess Rajarajeswari by lighting up the Diya (lamp) and perform pooja.
