Alampur Jogulamba Devi temple in Jogulamba Gadwal district, Telangana is one of the Famous 18 Shakti Peethas in India.
The Jogamba or Yogamba (Jogulamba) temple is present at the union of two sacred Hindu rivers Krishna and Tungabhadra. It is a popular tourism destination in Telangana.
Jogulamba-Gadwal district has been newly formed from the existing Mahbubnagar District of Telangana.
Alampur town is at a distance of just 28 km from Kurnool City. It is believed that the upper jaw with tooth of Devi fell here at this place.
Many devotees consider Alamapur as Dakshina Kailasam (Dakshina Kasi) or Sangama Kshetram present on the left bank of holy Tungabhadra river.
Alampur temple is surrounded by beautiful Nallamala Hills and is mentioned in the sacred Skanda Purana.
Alampur Jogulamba is considered the Shakti of Bala Brahmeswara Swamy and the actual construction of the temple dates back to 6th century.

The temple is renovated and reconstructed recently in the year 2005.

The Sharan Navaratri celebrations are one of the main attractions of this only Shakti Peeta in the entire state of Telangana, attracting devotees from neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Goddess Jogulamba appears to devotees in various decorations during the 9-day Navaratri festival period at this historic Alampur Jogulamba Ammavari temple.
Kalyanotsavam of Balabrahmeswara Swamy and Goddess Jogulamba, Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra), Nadi Aarti and Teppotsavam (Boat Ritual) are held on these festival days.
On the day of Maha Shivaratri, special prayers are held in Alampur's Balabrahmeswara Swamy and Jogulamba temples.

Temple authority are working hard in recent days to create new facilities at the temple premises.
R&B Guest House present at the location is normally given to VIPs, if these houses are vacant, then only they are allotted to the normal tourists on rent basis.

ReplyDeleteSir, This is the first time I am planning to visit singly to Jogulamba temple by Tungabadra express on 28/01/2017 from Hyd and return to Hyd on the same day, is it possible!! Is there any local transportation from Jogulamba Halt railway station to Jogulamba temple by road. Exactly how much time is required to visit all the nine temples in the alampur village as well as Jogulamba main temple with peace of mind. Please throw some light and advise me.

DeleteOf the 9 Nava Brahma temples mentioned here, only Bala Brahma Temple is open for the visitors. ALampur is a very small town and you’ll do better on foot. Jogulamba Temple can be covered in a single day. Happy Journey.
