About Sri Ananthagiri Temple:
Sri Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Ananthagiri is popularly known as Ananthagiri Temple.
This ancient 400 years old temple is located on a hill in the middle of deep
Vikarabad forest. Ananthagiri Temple was constructed during the Nizam period.

How to reach Ananthagiri Hills:
After just 5 km journey from Vikarabad, you will get to a circle.
From here, Ananthagiri temple is just 1 km towards your right and towards left you can get to Harita Resort, Valley View Resort.
The sign board here will give a very good direction towards the temple.

Govt. T.B. Chest Hospital entrance board will greet you on your way and the whole place look very beautiful.

Once you reach the temple spot, there is a good provision for parking your vehicles on the entrance. You will be greeted by huge statues of
Lord Hanuman and Lord Garuda.
There is also
Lord Shiva Temple located just outside Sri Lakshmi Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple which you can visit once you finished your darshan.

Pilgrimscan have a holy dip in the temple pushkarini and there are steps to reach this holy pushkarini from inside and outside of the temple.

After seeing Markandeya temple and pushkarini, visitors can go further down to enjoy trekking and forest scenery.
Ananthagiri Temple History:
It is believed that, Ananthagiri temple was constructed by Markandeya rishi. The beautiful and peaceful atmosphere has attracted Markandeya rishi in Dvapara Yuga (about 700 BC) to perform yoga.
Bhakta Markandeya after performing his meditation and yoga, he used to go to Kasi and take a holy dip in the Ganges river through a small cave which you can see towards left side in temple Garbhagudi.
Once during dwadasi season, Markandeya rishi cannot make it to reach Kasi in the early morning hours.
Lord Vishnu moved by this event appeared in his dreams and created a unique path to reach the Ganges to the premises of Markandeya to perform his holy bath their itself.

Lord Vishnu, who was very happy with the prayers of Markandeya rishi ,appeared in front of him and blessed him.
Lord Maha Vishnu said that he will be available in salagrama rupa inAnanthagiri hills and will listen the prayers of devotees and bless them.

APSRTC is operating a special bus for Ananthagiri and Chilkur Balaji temple on sundays. Check their official website for more information.

There are hotels and restaurants in Ananthagiri for Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians. You can also get your own food and enjoy trekking in Ananthagiri. You can buy pooja items in the temple itself.
After darshan, you can get Laddu or Pulihora [Lemon Rice] as prasadam in the temple Prasadam counter.

The temple is open to the devotees from 7.30 AM to 8 PM. Accommodation facility is also available at the temple.

thank you for the great information...was planning a family trip..one quick question...are there many steps to climb in the temple? My dad is a bit old and has leg problems so cannot walk much...hence the question...atleast any track for wheelchairs you might have seen? Thank you in advance

DeleteBut for seeing Koneru and for trekking spots he need to get down many steps. So, plan accordingly.
I have not seen the wheelchair facility but, they are ready to assist older people and arrange easy darshan.

From Ananthagiri Hills Temple one can visit Kotpally Reservoir (Apprx 15kM) and Buggalingeswaraswamy Devalayam situated at Bugga village (Apprx 7kM). All these can be covered in one day from Hyderabad.
