Here is a list of some of the famous Ancient Caves to visit in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

Undavalli Caves:


Undavalli Caves are famous 4 story ancient rock cut caves located at Penumaka - Vijayawada Rd, Near Prakasam Barrage.

These rock cut caves are carved out of a hill of sandstone and dates back to 4th and 5th century AD.



Moghalrajpuram Caves:


Moghalrajpuram Caves are home to 3 temples and 5 rock cut sanctuaries dating back to the 5th century AD in the city of Vijayawada.

This is a must visit place for heritage lovers.

This is a centrally protected monument of national importance and one can see the idols of Lord Ganesh, Goddess Durga and Lord Nataraja in these caves.



This rock-cut cave temple has a statue of Ardhanarishvara, which is believed to be the oldest in South India.

These caves are dedicated to Akkanna and Madanna brothers, who were ministers of Quli Qutb Shah, the Nawab of Golconda.

You can easily visit the Akkanna Madanna cave temple when you are on your way to the holy Kanaka Durga temple.

Sitanagaram Caves:


Sitanagaram Caves are ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves dating back to the 1st and 2nd century AD in Sitanagaram Hill.

This ancient cave is present on the right bank of Krishna river and is close to Prakasam Barrage.
