This famous temple is considered one of the
twelve Jyotirlingas of India. Lord Naganath or Lord Shiva is the main deity of this divine temple.
This famous historic temple is located at a distance of 30 km from Hingoli, 50 km away from Parbhani and around 64 km away from Nanded.

This ancient temple has four strong walls and has huge corridors. The court hall has an oval shape and is firmly supported by the eight pillars.
One interesting fact about this temple is that there is no Nandi idol in front of Lord Shiva.

History of Anudha Nagnath Temple:
The ancient Anudha Nagnath stone temple was first constructed by Yudhisthira (Dharmaraju), the eldest of Pandavas when they had left Hastinapur for Vanavasa. So, the ancient temple dates back to more than 3000 years old.
The divine temple at Anudha Nagnath was once a seven-storyed one before being demolished by the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and his army.
Aurangzeb left the demolition work in the midway as he was attacked by thousand of bees. Later, the broken temple was re-constructed by the devotees of Lord Mahadeva.
The current temple has Hemadpanthi style of architecture and was recently innovated in the 18th century by the pious Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar.
