Ahobilam is a holy place, which consists of Nava Narasimha Temples devoted to Lord Narasimha Swamy, located within 5 km radius.

According to Hindu mythology, this is the place where Lord Narasimha, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, saved the young Prahlada by killing his Asura father Hiranyakashipu.

4. Yaganti - Sri Uma Maheswara Temple:-


Sri Uma Maheswara Swamy temple in Yaganti is a sacred holy temple in Nandyal district dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This ancient temple was built in the 15th Century by Vijayanagara Empire King Harihara Bukka Raya.

He belonged to the Sangama Dynasty and he constructed the temple according to the Vaishnavite traditions.

The main attraction of this temple is "Growing Nandi" present ain temple mandapam, which is still expanding and growing even today at a rate of 1 inch every 20 years.

According to the prophecy of Veerabrahmendra Swamy, Nandi gets up alive and shouts at the end of Kaliyuga.

Another attraction of the temple is the absence of crows as Sage Agastya cursed the crows that disturbed him, while performing his penance at this place.

Since the crow is Lord Shani's vehicle / vahana, the devotees firmly believe that Lord Shani cannot enter this holy place.

India's Nostradamus Saint Srimadvirat Veerabrahmendra Swamy stayed in Yaganti for sometime, where he wrote the famous Kalagnanam (Prophecy).

Take a holy bath in the pushkarani, where the water emerges from Nandi's mouth at the bottom of the hill before doing puja to Lord Shiva.

There is no trace of water flowing from the hill and water will be present throughout the year in Pushkarini (temple pond) even during the dry summer season.


Maha Shivaratri is celebrated with great fervour at this temple.

Chowdeshwari Devi Temple present in Nandavaram in Banaganapalle mandal is a popular temple dedicated to the Goddess Chowdeshwari Devi (Kasi Vishalakshi).

According to an ancient belief, Goddess Chowdeshwari Devi came all the way from Varanasi to the village of Nandavaram via a small underground tunnel that can be seen in the temple premises.

Devotees can perform Sri Chakra Puja in front of the deity at this temple.

The original Chowdeshwari Devi idol looked more fearful to watch so, it was placed behind the garbhagriha doors and a similar less frightening deity was placed for pilgrims worship in this ancient temple.

Navarathri celebrations are performed with great joy and enthusiasm in this temple.
